CAR BY ROUTES

1- La vall de Lord
Enjoy the Vall de Lord along the LV-4241, passing several fountains such as the ones in Lladurs with the ruins of the castle, the Teixó’s  and Fenerals’ fountain and the Vilamala holes, reaching Coll de Jou where there’s a picnic area with barbacues and at 10 minutes, the Creu del Codó mirador. Continue to the Port del Comte ski station and then to Coll de Port where the El Solsonès borders the Alt Urgell area. Go down to the Fonts del Cardener where the Cardener River begins and there is a large picnic area, continue to the village of la Coma, the church in the village of La Pedra and then the Puda fountain. Near Sant Llorenç you can visit the Santa Creu d’Ollers church, the Vall-llonga bridge and we must not forget to mention the church, monastery and old streets of Sant Llorenç de Morunys. Go to Sanctuary de Lord passing the small Romanesque church of Sant Serni de Vilamantells, walk 15 minutes up the steps to the church and go back to Solsona on the Llosa del Cavall road enjoying magnificent views of the reservoir. Total: 88 Km.

2 - La Ribera Salada
Discover a rural area where the old farmhouses and the churches are found scattered and integrated in the landscape. Following this route we can see the churches in La Llena and in Timoneda, and then we can cross the river, Ribera Salada over the Pont del Clop Bridge. We can continue up passing the churches of Montpol and admire the views from the mirador at Serra-seca until we reach the village of Cambrils with its church, castle in ruins, the salt works and the salty fountain. If we continue to Coll de Jou, we will see the cal Sala fountain, a large rock in the shape of an elephant, the castle of Odèn, Santa Cecília’s church, casa de la Rita (house built into a rock wall) moor caves and the little village of Canalda, then we pass Coll de Jou before reaching Solsona again, along the road LV-4241. Total 74 Km.

3 - Pinell i Castellar de la Ribera
Get to know the area’s countryside  by going up the Catellvell where from the hill you can enjoy magnificent views, continue to the little church of Miravé, the medieval village of Sant Climenç, the ruins of the old Romanesque church of Madrona, Els Apòstols, the dolmens in el Clot del Solà and el Llor. Continue on the main road to Bassella (C-26) where you will pass the small village of Castellar de la Ribera, there you can visit the church and a rural school from the post civil war period. Further on you will find the picturesque Romanesque church of Ceuró and several dolmens nearby. Go back to Solsona on the C-26. Total 51 km.

4 - El centre de Catalunya
Go through a land full of history. Set off direction Torà, when you get to Peracamps (l’Hostal Nou), go over the bridge and follow the old Torà road (LV-3005). Nearby following the signs you will get to a megalithic burial monument after a 10 minute walk, it is the dolmen of Llobera. Further on we have the well preserved Vallferosa tower after a 30 minute walk. Following the same road we will reach Ardèvol with its defence tower in the middle of the village. Quite close we can also visit Pinós sanctuary and a monument sculpted in rock that tell us that we are in the geographical centre of Catalonia. The view from this place is breathtaking. Follow the road down to visit la Molsosa and Prades. Go back to Pinós and continue to Su and then to El Miracle where you can see an impressive Barroque altarpiece from the 18th c. and further on the church of Torredenegó. Go back to Solsona on the LV-3002. Total 115 km

5 - La vall d’Ora
Experience the traditions and the way of living in other periods of time, discover important real jewels of the Romanesque art.
We leave Solsona on the C-26 that will take us near the Sant Ponç reservoir and the Santa Margarida de Navès church. Further on  following the Aigua d’Ora river up, we will be at the foot of the impressive Busa cliffs, reaching a wider part in the valley where we will find a monument to Comte Guifré (Catalan flag’s creator), the mills at Ca l’Ambròs, the Romanesque bridge and the old school that houses a little museum, and further on the monastery of Sant Pere de Graudescales from the 10th c. Go back to Solsona on the C-26 but do not forget to visit Sant Esteve d’Olius church and the modernist cemetery nearby. Total 70 Km
